I don't know why anyone would think splitting the entire left-of-center vote and continuing to blame Democrats for what Republicans do would be anyone’s idea of the best response to what is now a bit more than creeping authoritarianism. That would actually be, IMHO, a non-strategy that aids the authoritarians.
