I've been on a Dragon Ball binge since Daima ended (old stuff) and I'm realizing I maybe don't hate the new stuff that much. A problem with some of the late DBZ stuff is that the directors and episode writers understood the story better than the author, so they pace certain scenes differently (better) and new material ignores the better one, so if the anime is the version of events in your brain, you're left confused about why some characters' personalities have rewinded into immature versions.
