Bingo card update:
1) Inflation has spiked up to 3% in January...which is a significant increase. Inflation is worsening. (
)
2) NAEP scores - the best indicator we have of the overall skill of K-12 students - largely fell in reading. (
)
3) There have been at least 15 mass shootings in the US this year! Some of them are kind of pathetic, but if Randy Stair's failspree counts as a mass shooting then so do all of these. ()
4) DOGE has finally managed to break something important: everyone at the IMLS has been placed on administrative leave for 3 months, preventing them from distributing grants to public libraries! America's libraries and museums are in severe peril! (https://archive.is/sgbDQ)
5,6) The "Hands Off" "protest", demanding that DEI hired feds get to keep having their jobs, happened in the first week of April this year. The only people who benefit from this are DEI hires, and as such this is both a "Race Riot" and a "Major Feminist Backlash," given that this was a nationwide riot with about 1% of the American populace involved.
7) There was a 10% or more stock market crash after Trump kicking off a new round of Tariffs, marking off "Fiscal Crisis of Any Sort."
8) Nicky Katt - one of the actors who played a major character in the somewhat famous weed movie "Dazed and Confused," has died from suicide.
9) Although this was missed by most - George Santos, a US Representative, has been sentenced to jailtime. There are other politicians who have been arrested for various reasons, but this is the first who is unambiguously "jailed."
10) The American Research Group's poll on 6/17-6/20 has Trump's approval rating at 38% (this is immediately following attacks on Iran).
11) Major flooding due to storms happened in central Texas, killing a large number of children.
Notes:
1) No major universities are shutting down this Summer.
2) Trump has enacted positive reform by freeing the Jan 6th political prisoners
3) University enrollment is projected to increase a small amount this Fall.
4) There's discussion about whether or not cloud seeding was used to cause the flooding in Texas. If this is substantiated, then this causes a bingo.
