After Robert Redford passed away, started reserving some of his movies from the library for the family to watch. We did Sneakers a few weeks ago. Tonight we watched The Sting. Some of it is a bit dated, but mostly holds up as a movie.
I'm biased because I basically hate the entire concept of breaking down political ideology into "left" vs. "right" but... it's even worse when we start saying certain activities are "coded" along that very limited political spectrum. RE:

FWIW, it is my wife who has convinced my whole family that the pumpkin pie she makes (very low sugar content, minimal spices) is good breakfast food. She also has a low sugar chocolate cake that she is convinced is breakfast food, and my kids are wholly on board with this. RE:
