I received three turnips from the field. When I arrived at the entrance, a mother with two boys opened the door and waited for me to get on the elevator because I was carrying many bags. I gave them two turnips. The boys smiled as they held the fresh turnips. That was my way of thanking them for their kindness. It made me happy. Chains of kindness. Merry Christmas, America.
If you understand the underlying principles, you can apply them to almost anything. When you read a large number of books, you realize that everyone does things differently. Each approach has its own reasons, and once you understand those reasons, you begin to see that there is more than one way to solve a problem.
It rained for two days in a row. It looks like small flying insects are breeding in the soil at the field. They’re not harming the vegetables, but it’s yucky. Do you have any ideas to avoid them?
I rented this field in October. We haven’t generated any revenue yet, as the harvest is expected in spring. We need numbers and clear benefits. image

Snow peas. I grew three plants per hill, and because I thought it would be too cold, I made a windbreak with plastic, like an andon cover. They are supposed to be harvested in April, but perhaps they mistook it for spring, as white flowers have already bloomed. The leaves have begun to wither. This seedling will probably not survive the cold. image
These are red beet seedlings. Red beets are used in borscht, a Russian dish. I thought they would be strong in cold conditions, but the germination rate was poor, and even when they sprouted, about 80% of them died. I replanted seedlings from the balcony three times, but even after more than a month, they are still this small.
This is a rental field with shared space. Nevertheless, the owner told me, β€œYou may use these hoses.” However, a neighbor said, β€œNo, it’s mine. He doesn’t know that.” So I had to buy a new watering can. image
This is a striped flea beetle. Most of the mizuna (Japanese mustard greens) leaves were eaten by this bug.
