You read that right. 75% of scientists are considering leaving the US. Forgive me (not really) if I'm struggling to understand exactly how this is making the US anything other than diminished, stupid, and ill.

There are many caveats (sample size, for ex) but this is very good: "Everyone in this study was destined to develop #Alzheimer’s disease and some of them haven’t yet,” said senior author Randall J. The #antisemitism driving #Trump's "protection" of Jews. I sure as hell don't feel safer: The "policy of allowing us to teach our students about antisemitism but banning education about xenophobia & anti-immigrant hatred would accomplish. By making Jews his personal pet minority—his court Jews, so to speak—Trump is making it impossible for us to link antisemitism to other forms of bigotry, & thereby to understand it in its real historical context."
Chilling. For the life of me, I keep wondering cui bono? "Research funding is only the first stage in the story. As Trump closes off travel from much of the world, holding major conferences in the US will become intellectually indefensible, if not physically impossible."
Michael Roth: "Acc. to DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin, #Khalil was arrested “in support of Trump’s EO prohibiting Antisemitism. How in the world can this be grounds for an arrest? if we don’t defend the right to protest, how will we defend the freedom to teach & learn, the freedom to pursue research? If we just defend the speech or activities we like, on what basis do we resist authoritarianism?" This "prohibition" against anti-Semitism is anti-semitic.
