• Let's talk about serious things. In my humble opinion, the best secure operating system at the moment is Qubes OS. And that's why:
• The principle of isolation brought to mind. Qubes OS - translated from Basurman - “cubes”. Each cube is a separate virtual machine. User applications are one virtual machine, a router and firewall are another, a sandbox where the light does not shine is a third. So, if one of the dice is compromised, discard it and restart. Even the most evil Trojan will not get beyond the boundaries of one single cube.
• Convenience. Don't have a hundred rubles, but have a hundred friends. Well, or a friend with a hundred rubles. So, Qubes is a friend with hundreds of virtual machines in one. If you want to run several VPNs at once and configure your own route for each application, it’s easy. VPN-TOR (whonix)-VPN without dancing with a tambourine - nothing simpler.
• For bot lovers, this is simply paradise. You don’t need to keep a bunch of machines and virtual machines - you have opened five browsers in parallel and you can arrange a holivore with yourself in the comments.
• Amazing flexibility. The isolation principle will allow you to independently assemble your constructor from Qubes OS. Do you want anonymous crypto wallets? We launched a new cube - did the work - demolished it. No traces. For those who like to work with malware, this is also an ideal option.
• If you want to use password managers without fear of leaks, make a secure storage in a sandbox and deploy KeePassX there or whatever you like best. Even if the manager is hacked a hundred times, you don’t give a damn, this doesn’t apply to you. You have a foil hat container.
• I’ll tell you even more: do you want Windu? And it can be run through Qubes OS right inside the system. Roll Office there and live happily ever after. This is as convenient and safe as possible. All tracking contents of the windows will be securely locked in the container.
• Summary. Qubes OS takes some getting used to. But this is potentially the most convenient and safe system ever invented. So it's definitely worth it.
