I think the most frustrating thing about AI is that I've got 20 years left of my working years. Eventually there will be a point where I have to engage with it. It might not be until after the next generation or two of tech passes, but it will get to something "usable enough" eventually. This isn't a genie that will go away if we mock it enough. I'll put it off for now, but someday I'll have to figure out enough to keep up with the kids.
You reach the age that your injuries aren't from sports or whatever, it's from things like "slept in a bad position and injured your back".
Here's to all the open source developers who put hours and hours of their lives into a project they built, put it out into the world, and now it sits with approximately zero users.
Thank you for putting labor into the world to try and help others, even if it's never been recognized.
Brag about your project here if you'd like!
What's one of your weird video game habits?
I'll start - in Stardew Valley, I can't let myself divorce anyone. I have to do a whole new playthrough if I want to see someone else's marriage events.
Every Single Trans Person was once a trans kid.
And I've yet to meet a single trans person who transitioned as an adult who doesn't wish that they were able to come out and be themselves as a kid.
We're watching as one after another, politicians, hospitals and organizations and universities and schools are choosing to toss trans kids under the bus.
They're. Sacrificing. Children.
I will never forgive those who throw trans kids under the bus. Never.
How is it that there can be probably a trillion minutes of video accessable at a click, and still can't find anything to watch?
It's weird how many people I come across that don't realize almost all stuff you return to stores just gets thrown away.
This is effectively a declaration of war against every single country in the world.
I'm actually okay with reasonable amounts of government fraud. Because government programs that serve all the people must operate from a default accept, not a default deny if they're to cover all people with benefits. Sure, do audits and penalties if fraud is found, but even still. I would FAR rather a daycare that's not following the rules get government funding than the 99% of daycares who are legitimately serving families be stuck without support. I would FAR rather some folks get social disability payments support who weren't supposed to than disabled people stuck for months or years with no help because they had "insufficient documentation".
Governments aren't supposed to be a business. They're meant to ensure everyone is covered equally, even the ones who are difficult and "unprofitable". Because that's what governments are designed to do.
I wonder if adults can just come up to one another and say "Hey, you seem cool, can we be friends?"
