In 2021, a man died after his rooster, armed with a knife for an illegal cockfight, slashed his groin, severing an artery and causing him to bleed to death. The animal was held at a police station before being transferred to a farm.
In 2017, pastor Jonathan Mthethwa from Zimbabwe tried to "walk on water" in front of his congregation. Mthethwa tried to cross what is known locally as Crocodile River. He was unsuccessful in walking on the water and instead was attacked and fatally injured by crocodiles.
