We gave away a Bitcoin bottle at this months meetup. For this giveaway we played a fun game related to #BTC mining. BTC mining machines literally just fire guesses, the more hashrate a machine has, the more guesses. Attendees were asked to guess a number between 1-50 the first to guess correctly got the prize! Not sure if they are on Nostr but they are @bitcoin_bottle on twitter Winner posted thispic last night when they got home https://twitter.com/XtorneX/status/1629559208357101569? image

Bitcoin is a distributed network. It is decentralised. It has no central point of attack. Running a Bitcoin node helps in the decentralisation of Bitcoin. War, natural disasters, power failures/outages, governments it doesn't matter...tick, tock, next block. Talking nodes at our meetup tomorrow at 1pm image
By running a node you store a copy of the entire #Bitcoin blockchain. You can explore your own copy of the blockchain privately through a block explorer. Online block explorers may log your IP address in relation to searches for specific wallet addresses or transaction IDs. image
What is a Bitcoin node? A node is a computer that runs Bitcoin software, stores Bitcoin transactions and is connected to the Bitcoin network. Bitcoin nodes broadcast, validate incoming transactions and store transactions. Bitcoin transactions are stored together in blocks. image
Your node helps reduce your reliance on third parties. Using hot wallets you connect to third party servers and their nodes. They can see your IP address, your balances & spending activity. Using a node helps increase your privacy. Talking nodes this Saturday 25th Feb at 1pm! #Bitcoin image
By running a node you store a copy of the #Bitcoin ruleset and the entire growing blockchain. This allows you to verify received transactions without third parties #Bitcoin Talking nodes at our next meetup this Saturday 25th Feb at 1pm! image
