You know someone is faking "old age" wisdom when they say old shows didn't get flack back then because there was no social media. Newsgroups, forums, your local AV club, there were tons of places where people will say "What is Deep Space Nine thing? Eww, there's no ship and who is this angry fella. HE IS NOT PICARD!"
