The melt value 1909-1982 standard Lincoln Penny is 2.5 cents. By switching the composition to mostly zinc they got the melt value to below a penny currently, nevermind manufacturing costs. Fiat games can't cheat physics.

The melt value of a standard Jefferson Nickel is currently 5.6 cents

Something I can't stop thinking about. Has the prevalence of shitcoins provided cover for Bitcoin to avoid nation state level attack longer than it would have in a Bitcoin only world? When I see someone that demonstrated deep understanding of bitcoin go on to later get involved with poopcoin level scams, I can't square the circle. Is this the final panel of the galaxy brain meme? At least for this critical moment in fiat convulsion and Bitcoin's adolescents? Confuse, obfuscate and misdirect state resources to buy time. Make it seem like a joke.
