Nice. Blixt Wallet is back with v0.6.9! We have a lot of new stuff in this release, such as a new stable Tor implementation, Persistent Mode, Simple Taproot Channels support, 0-conf channels support for Dunder LSP, and a bunch of new languages. --- This release has a new Tor backend ("newtor") on Android that should be much more robust and reliable. You don't need to do anything in order to experience it, just make sure you have Tor enabled in Blixt settings. --- Blixt Wallet now has support for Simple Taproot Channels! Your private channels will just look like normal Taproot transactions if you do a coop close, which is great for privacy. Dunder LSP & autopilot will also support this feature in the near future. --- Blixt Wallet on Android has a new Persistent Mode, which lets Blixt stay in the persistently in the background. This can be helpful if you're awaiting a payment, or if you just want to keep in-sync with the chain. Depending on the device, this mode may drain more battery life. In a future release, we will allow self-custodial Lightning Address support for users opting in to the Persistent Mode. --- There were a lot of more stuff than the ones discussed here, so be sure to read the changelog. If you wish to download the app, head over to . Thanks to all contributors in this release and Happy Blixting everyone! 🟑
No, Lightning is not dead. But let this be a wake-up call that we should not put all our eggs in one basket. We need to explore alternative scaling ideas. Therefore I am supportive of the covenants softfork and the OP_CAT proposal, which help many Layer 2s.
Mobile LN nodes and wallets rock!
People still look at the Bitcoin price?
My email is getting too many support inquiries for Blixt Wallet. I cannot keep up. If you need immediate help, please join our Telegram chat group. We are a strong and helpful community.
A good rule of thumb is DON’T BREAK USER SPACE. This is something Linus Torvalds constantly repeats regarding the Linux kernel development.
⚑️ hampus@blixtwallet.com This Lightning Address is special. When you pay to it, my Lightning Box solution will forward the request to the phone, where Blixt Wallet respond with an invoice. This is the first time a self-custodial LN wallet supports Lightning Address. This is part of my on-going work to support receiving via Lightning Address for mobile self-custodial wallets. Android supports foreground services, meaning that Blixt Wallet can stay online all the time to answer incoming requests (no effect on battery). Though the normal mode of operation for Lightning Box is that it'll take the payment on behalf of the user and then next time the user opens wallet, it will auto-withdraw from the Box, thanks to LNURL-withdraw. But if the wallet is online already, it can just forward the request.
When Satoshi first released Bitcoin, he was out to fix the Byzantime Generals Problem and he did that by PoW and a public ledger (the blockchain). But he put out an imperfect protocol. It's not practically possible to fix everything all at once. The first comment about Bitcoin by another person was about its problematic relationship with scaling. Therefore the idea that Bitcoin is perfect β€œjust the way it is” is a flawed concept. We should strive to improve bitcoin by adding technology that helps for scaling, privacy and other things. Bitcoin is not perfect.
In the end, all scaling to the Bitcoin mainchain has to come down to "put multiple people on the same UTXO". This is how we achieve mass scaling. My favorite solution for this is Drivechains BIP300/301 + an interoperable Lightning Network. What is your favorite solution?
