Guerrilla ontology is a concept Robert Anton Wilson coined in The Illuminati Papers (1980). It’s basically a philosophical prank or tactic aimed at shaking up people’s fixed beliefs by mixing truth and fiction so you’re always questioning: How much is real and how much is a put-on? The goal is to induce cognitive dissonance—making your brain uncomfortable enough to break out of rigid thinking and open up new ways to experience reality. It’s like guerrilla warfare for the mind—using surprise, contradiction, and confusion to sabotage dogmatic worldview "maps." Instead of accepting one “truth,” guerrilla ontology encourages juggling multiple models of reality and staying permanently skeptical and agnostic about any single viewpoint. image
