i just got an email from Pronatura Veracruz about the River of Raptors
"For the Mississippi Kite, we have a peak day that represents a historical record, since on September 9, we counted 91,532, and we have recorded 694,210 now (the last highest season was in 2022 with 471,622 kites)."
Broad wings may chuckle at these numbers when they arrive in their millions but that's still a LOT of kites

Migration continues...this is a bossy female. One of my other photos showed her scrapping over the feeder with a juvenile male with only one "ruby" in his throat but they were zipping around too fast & it came out too blurry to use. 😢
