My default assumption is that every game studio actually hates their customers, and wishes they could replace them with another group of buyers (other than indies of course). Most will put out slop and then when it fails they delight in blaming their customer rather than questioning their own choices. Nintendo just hates your wallet, and your emulators, but they will not put out slop, so I appreciate that.
Apparently someone on BlueSky managed to find some high quality screenshot scans of Mario Smash, a canceled Virtual Boy Mario game. I remember seeing the screenshots if this in Nintendo Power when I was a kid. Apparently that same level was demoed back in the day. Its looks...slow. #retrogaming #gamestr
I think I missed the boat on getting a Retroid 5. I wanted a heldheld just so I could play older games on the couch (that and I'm tired of soldering all the time to save old hardware). My guess is Retroid is next to cut back things. #retrogaming #gamestr
Another hot take for a Monday (cause I'm back to work and annoyed, so fuck it): Nostr's killer feature is how it handles identity. Everything else is either neat shit or noise. Nostr's killer feature is not zaps. The only people who give a fuck about zaps are people looking for an excuse to use lightning for something. It's not zaps, it's identity.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but if I was designing a Nostr client that I intended to be commercially viable, I'd probably use a caching relay. Primal takes a lot of shit for this, but it seems to make things run a little smoother, plus if I wanted to rely on ads or boosted posts for funding, that would be key to it.
