Until yesterday, it was entirely unthinkable that Israel would even consider attacking a gulf country. The bombing of Doha now marks a new era! The whole brand of gulf countries is their safety & stability, & they spend so much political & financial capital to ensure this remains the case. Gulf countries brand themselves as hubs for finance, investments, diplomacy & mediation. The slightest attack on any of them shatters their whole brand, destabilises them & sends investors & visitors fleeing away (think of how the Houthis pressured Saudi Arabia into a ceasefire in Yemen by drone-bombing Aramco oil facilities a couple of times with limited damage). Israel's assault on Doha sent a message to gulf governments that no matter how many hundreds of billions you pour into the US, UK, EU... or how many US troops you host & American weapons you buy, none of it would buy your safety; those same Western powers will be the first to throw you under the bus for Israel's sake.
