🚨Senior EU officials tell me the recently announced review of Israel's human rights violations in Gaza is a sham! The Netherlands that requested the very review were asked if they'd support suspending the association agreement if the review incriminates Israel, they said NO, they only wanted the review to pretend to be taking action. The review's conclusions will be delivered orally to the member states, instead of in writing; another cheap manoeuvre! This would be the 3rd review in 12 months, two earlier ones incriminated Israel, yet zero action was taken! Kallas told her advisors "one had to be insane to think Israel isn't violating article 2" (per a knowledgable source). Yet, the member states are trying to buy time with another review instead of taking action, It's the same as the UK sanctions on Ben-Gvir & Smotrich that have practically zero impact on either of the two or Israel itself. The UK et al. penalized them for "statements" not actions or decisions & confined the scope of those statements to the West Bank NOT Gaza, b/c if they included Gaza or actions, they would've had to sanction the entire gov & IDF chain of command. Beneath the surface of those headline-grabbing gestures lies a far more calculated and cynical strategy — one that reflects not a principled reckoning with Israeli impunity, but a desperate attempt by Western powers to maintain the appearance of action while continuing to enable the very atrocities they now claim to condemn!
