A journalist from a top US newspaper just told me their editors are prioritising coverage of the protests over the war itself
Israel NGO, media central, is actively reaching out to journalists & offering to connect them with “anti-Hamas Gazans” to interview & publish Op-Eds from (even a journalist from a pro-Israeli US newspaper was shocked & told me “this is pure propaganda”).
The “focus project” that been sending “pro-Israeli talking points” throughout 17 months of genocide is suddenly sending pro-demonstration talking points.
At the same time, Israel continues to bomb (& issuing forced displacement orders to) the very cities & towns those protests are taking place in, while Netanyahu made clear that even if those protests press Hamas to surrender & disarm, he will still occupy Gaza & implement “Trump’s plan” to kick everyone there out
Israel & those Israeli/pro-Israeli orgs NEVER cared about those protests & don’t care if the protests succeed or not, they’re only interested in the optics of those demonstrations to amplify such footage & focus all media coverage on it, so they can buy time for & eacalate the genocide under the radar, while blaming Palestinians for their own demise

Last week, Odai Al-Rubai (22) was tortured to death by militants affiliated with Hamas, who then claimed (without presenting evidence) that he was a collaborator.
Murders are taking place under the radar.

I know Gazans who hated Hamas with passion, condemned everything they did, only to get killed by Israel anyways, have their homes bombed, their families slaughtered, maimed or kidnapped...
This "damned if you do & damned if you don't" dynamic ends up bolstering Hamas when Israel is clear about its intention to genocide & depopulate Gaza & treats everyone there as a target!
