The Britons Arms in Norwich is a rare thatched roof medieval survivor of the great 1507 fire. A timber frame with brick infill, today three floors and basement. Possibly originally one of very few British beguinage (a house for a sort of lay order of nuns). Roof ridges were commonly finished in stone in the windy regions facing the Sea of Japan.
