Study on a large Norwegian health database keeps coming up with the same results: physically active youth have better mental health and adults who stay active or keep active are less likely to suffer from any number of mental health problems. If schools were serious about the nurturing health they would increase sports and art (yes art activities are also good for mental health). Responsible adults should start walking and start lifting. It isn't difficult.
