Last relay for the night. The Mayan temples were constructed of lime stone that were place together in alignment with filler stones. The same theory use when one is laying down floor tile. The Filler stones as you can see are place below the main stones creating and alignment and the Mayan builders would come back and applied a stucco type mixture over the stones and filler stones creating a smooth finish. This ingenious architectural design was applied to every temple in the Mayan kingdom. image View quoted note →
I fast frame the video since my upload for videos is very difficult but you can pause the video and see the Ventilation Shafts in Temple 4 of Tikal. Which led me down the rabbit whole that makes me believe that these temples like Giza serve the purpose of mummy burials and the belief of eternal life and their sacred burial 🪦chambers. One thing for sure is that much of the findings that we know of the Ancient ruins of the Mayan culture has been introduced by foreign scholars & college institutions. Sadly the history of the Mayan civilization has not been written by the Mayan culture. I learned today that 26 Mayan languages exist, not dialects but complete languages with their own writing style & tradition. So even in the basic form of the game Pok-A-Tok. One can clearly understand that the ruins vs the theory of the game are completely different. & Yes, While on Top of Temple five, I had discovered ventilation shafts. Yes, shafts created for the flow of air, interesting enough I knew that a chamber must be the reason why and as I was speaking about the ventilation shaft the archaeological tech mentioned to me that they had discovered a shaft inside why traveling in the tunnel complex and he said even thou its close of to the public, the air shaft was evidence that could not be hidden nor ignore. image
The Game of Pok-A-Tok was simple. You would run up the ramp from side to side gathering momentum to hit the rubber ball made from the local tree sap that created the rubber ball. The Goal 🥅 was a ring vertically place on the top. I was told that the ring similar to the Aztec was made but in truth I did not find any evidence of the Goal post ring in the Mayan Ruins. I honestly challenged myself the “Goal Post” ring because what I saw was something else. I did see the run but I believed the game the Mayans played was a different form then the Aztecs. image View quoted note →
The Mayans believe in having a special place where the Governors live aka Rulers. They had a special place that they dwell. It was known as the central court Palace. In the central court you had one major building dedicated to the royal family surrounded by Seven temples and three courts of Pok-A-Tok, the Mayan version of basketball/soccer. In those courts of games the elite would sit at the top and would watch the Mayan players play Pok-A-Tok. As I walk the ruins of Tikal I understood many people have walk before me in these courts and gave their lives as sacrifices to the sport. Almost symbolic to today’s major league players whom have done the same. Much Love Kobe! image View quoted note →
