I'm trying to understand how to anticipate space weather events. Please correct me if I have any if this wrong: So, the sun spot region AR4294, an area of multiple and large sun spots, is rotating towards facing the earth. But, just because a sun spot is large doesn't mean it necessarily has magnetic complexity? And there's a way to calculate some probability and potential for various classes of flares, but no way to predict if we will have CMEs? Can we predict anything past three days out? And is the angle of the flare as it hits earth's magnetic field also determinative of how intense the visual effects (auroras) will be? Is the class of flare the only metric we use to determine the viewing area for auroras?

Today's coffee surprised me: Kicking Horse "Grizzly Claw." It's a dark roast, but they were not looking to just make a strong coffee, but rather a smoother bold coffee. None of that burnt taste at the edges that you sometimes get in what is often termed "French Roast." It's a beautiful coffee, and tied for first place with KH Smart Ass. KH Three Sisters is a very close second place.

Serious question: what do you think would happen, in what order, if the current President of the United States were to be removed from office? He seems to be a whole lot more trouble than he's worth, for the people who have the money and power to pull the strings. I see the sharks circling in ways I had not before. It would not be hard to justify the use of the 25th amendment to remove him from office. Certainly Peter Thiel would like to see his protégé installed. There would be backlash, but if sycophants were also replaced in their positions of power, it could go more smoothly than one might expect. Would things get appreciably better? Hard to say. Perhaps the downward slide might even out a bit.

Maybe the 30 in COP30 means the number of years we have left before a disastrous rise in CO²? We could do something even now to avoid it. If I'm driving toward a cliff, I could try the brakes.
