My best friend texted me, and I want you all to know that this is what the disability and chronic illness communities deal with, all the time:
"Omg! I'm sitting in the waiting room and from the front desk- about 20 feet away, The receptionist looked thru my papers and says loudly "[name], So, do you just Not work? " I asked her to repeat herself. She says "You just stay home? You don't work? "
I said Yes. She responded "I wish i could do that! "
I damned near lost it! I snarked back at her "I'LL TRADE YOU FOR THE DISABILITY THAT MAKES IT HAPPEN! " "Oh, you have a disability? " what tipped you off lady? The forearm crutches?
BITCH! I WILL BE TALKING TO THE DOCTOR ABOUT THIS!"
This enrages me. I know that the people here would be appalled by this, but it happens too often. The one I get is "You're too young to be retired."

There's an additional reason not to be on the big social media sites these days, if you live in the U.S. or even if you plan to travel to the U.S.
It starts with surveillance of social media for "deportation leads," and we already know that U.S. citizens and foreign visitors have frequently been caught up in their "need to make quota" dragnet. No one should be kicked out of the country without due process, yet here we are.
It doesn't end there. They've already made it clear that they want to "deport" people based on our (formerly free) speech. The Thought Police aren't coming; they're here.
Signs you are a USian: I've somehow chipped a tooth, and my first thought was not about my own well-being, but rather "How much is this gonna cost?"
Dentist is closed on Fridays. 😐
