So, listening to the latest @preston podcast and it got me looking at how much US treasuries China own and was surprised to see the UK owning a similar amount at over $700billion. So question for one of the macro experts, @Lyn Alden @preston @Lawrence Lepard @James Lavish , why doesn't the UK (or any country with large foreign reserves) sell their US treasuries and use it to pay off their own debt and dramatically reduce the UKs debt to GDP?
