the following mods have made me use my MNT Pocket Reform daily again: —RCM4 with A311D processor (speeed, also runs cooler than i.MX8MP) —1TB NVMe (encrypted), boots quickly —AsiaRF WiFi card with MT7612U chipset and dual Ezurio FlexPIFA antennas Feels comfy, fast, always online :3
MNT Pocket Reform owner @npub1r9qz...vw3h got the Raspberry Pi CM4 module working in Pocket Reform as an interesting alternative to Banana Pi CM4 (A311D) and the stock NXP i.MX 8M Plus
MNT Reform Next prototype update: —it runs from batteries —it can charge the battery pack via usb-c —system contoller firmware can talk to the new batterypack and report voltages —system controller can talk to the charger
check out these wild USB and SD card adapters you can plug into MNT Pocket Reform's WWAN slot, tested by @Andy Piper
just realized i might have stopped using a file manager on linux because packages always mess with mime type assignments, like gimp will be used to open PDFs when double clicked, CSVs will be opened by krita or things like that
very nice, the hazard3 risc-v core in the new raspberry pi rp2350 mcu is an open source design
yesssss, mipi dsi output works on the rk3588, which means we can get rk3588 for pocket reform. the key was to disable vop_mmu. and thanks to heiko stübner for sending me his wip patches so i could compare everything! image
the MNT Pocket Reform review by @Andy Piper made it to HN today. it's interesting to see how our (devices') reputation has developed over the years: —æsthetically pleasing (nice) —kinda rough to get into at first/can require some tinkering (a bit of pain!) —actually not that expensive anymore (maybe inflation helped us here? but certainly upgraded processors/ram and quality of some parts) thank you for supporting us, it means a lot :3
ceci n'est pas une pipe image
there's a lot going on at the moment. for example, here's MNT Reform Next's port board two, where we use mid mount connectors. it turned out nicely :3
