If you’re telling people things are so bad that there’s no time to talk about their hobbies and interests and little joys, it turns out you DO have time for a hobby: being an insufferable douche.
So much of the trolling by Trumpists about Canada/Greenland/etc. just reflects their empty howling fury, unquenched by victory. They know they are held in contempt and they will keep trolling until somebody loves them.

We have to tolerate everyone having guns because it’s essential to have the right to resist a tyrannical government but also if you hold one of those guns when the government breaks into your house in the middle of the night they can shoot you.

Anyway this is an inevitable rift between the faction of the American Right that sees foreigners as a subhuman Other to be demonized for votes and the faction that sees them as cheap exploitable labor to make things that explode whether on purpose or not
