The "love" and affection offered by a narcissist is a fragile illusion that's used for control and manipulation. When we begin to see the control and manipulation, it begins shattering the illusion of any actual love from them. Time only allows space to discharge the emotions a little, which makes it easier to let go of them. The emotions we let go of, which is part of healing, is only by accident.
