The Land that God Loved
Raymond Harkley was certain he had lined up an easy job: the only priest in a small church in a smaller town in the middle of nowhere, America. But he quickly found out why the old man was so quick to hand over the keys and get out of town. The colorful townsfolk are the least of his problems. The forest is not empty, and in fact is home to a great many fey and wild creatures, wendigos, imps, leprechauns, vampires, and even tengu from the far East, and it was the local priest's duty to put a stop to their squabbling, schemes, and other "incidents" as they come to be called. Teaming up with Maria "I am a MAGICIAN, NOT a witch!" Kristofferson, Raymond's quest for a lazy weekday afternoon will pit him against the schemes of gnomes, the political machinations of vampires, the jealousy of old gods, and, perhaps most despair-inducing of all, an offering plate that is always far too light at the end of the sermon.
