When you open the Coinbase app it shows you this call to action to participate in an astroturfing effort to make US Senators think the “general public” agrees with them about passing the crypto bill currently in the senate. This bill is what coinbase wants— banks don’t like it. It could have had language to prohibit politicians from profiting from crypto but does not— a big miss. I also don’t like the “online fake banks” trend. But I need to know more— anyone know more? image
Few things are more confusing and potentially off-putting than something that's aspirational (class based) in a section of culture or society that you don't have much contact with at all or don't understand. There has been a lot of muttering and shade about the "look" of the MAGA woman. I've tried to stay away from this conversation. I don't like to criticize anyone's looks. But especially women. Don't women have too many critics? Too much make-up? Too fake? Who cares really?
It's middle school in the 90s or 80s and it's PIZZA DAY. Yay! One of the square slices behind the counter has a bubble. The dough has somehow acquired an air pocket. It's huge. The size of a tennis ball. Everyone is talking about "The Bubble" How do you feel about the bubble?
An old phone with a cracked screen is the new “new iPhone” the only way to one up some with this is to have either an eink screen OR pull out a blackberry or flip phone that somehow still does modern apps in some janky way. (this is elegance) I expect in five years companies will catch on and manufacture such things to keep up. Bespoke and retro— pleasant to touch and use. Unless they can really offer something that catches the imagination of the public. #trends #fashion
"people don't have accents anymore" is a lot like "kids these days don't know what good music is" Widely believed, often said, but the moment you get perspective? Totally false. "The accent is disappearing" no... it's becoming more similar to the way that *you* talk. So you can't hear it anymore. This is fascinating to me since obviously I'm not immune. From the right perspective everyone has a heavy accent. From yet another perspective everyone has no accent at all.
Every Victorian Recipe: A simple recipe that saves much time: Make the roast tilly in the usual manner at least one hale tun. Pat it all round and add some scrups of mace and no more of the crying match girl's dust than needed. Wrap in sensible cloth and let it laze on the hop bunting for a fortnight. Serve without warning on a bed of jollybee.
