3 December 1942 | A Polish man, Józef Steinhof, was registered at Auschwitz with no. 79606.
He was a teacher, farmer, and politician. An activist of the peasant movement. He was a member of the lower house of the Polish parliament (Sejm).
During the German occupation, he was active in the underground organisation Stronnictwo Ludowe (People's Party) "Roch". On 18 July 1942, he was arrested and interrogated by the Gestapo in Nowy Sącz and Cracow.
He perished in Auschwitz on 20 May 1943.
