23 September 1944 | Probably on this day, due to the decommissioning of Bunker No. II, the SS carried out a selection among the prisoners of the Sonderkommando. More than 200 of them were taken from Birkenau and—under the pretext of being transferred to one of the subcamps—were taken to the area of the so-called Kanada I warehouses. There, they were deceitfully led into a disinfection chamber and murdered with Zyklon B.
The bodies of the victims were transported to crematorium III and burned.
