2 September 1939 | Within the area of the occupied Free City of Danzig the Germans began the construction of Stutthof camp. Max Pauly became its commandant. Between 1939-45 ca. 110k people were imprisoned there. 65k people were killed (incl. 30-32k Poles & 28k Jews).

2 September 1917 | A Polish Jew, Szlama Pacyniarz, was born in Maków Mazowiecki. A butcher. In #Auschwitz from 1 February 1942. No. 26298 He perished in the camp on 20 February 1942.

2 September 1895 | A Polish woman, Aniela Kolano, was born in Święcice. In #Auschwitz from 1 July 1942. No. 8148 She perished in the camp on 7 October 1942.

2 September 1924 | Polish Jew, Jozef Fidelman, was born in Warsaw. He emigrated to France. He was deported to #Auschwitz from #Drancy on 24 July 1942. He did not survive.

2 September 1889 | A Czech Jew, Leo Geiger, was born in Plzeň. Deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt ghetto on 15 December 1943. He did not survive.

1 September 1939 | A Polish Jewish boy, Meilech Raich, was born in Trzebinia. In 1943 he was deported to #Auschwitz from ghetto in Chrzanów. He was murdered in a gas chamber.

1 September 1911 | A Pole, Franciszek Sztwiórok, was born in Lutynia. A worker. In #Auschwitz from 5 June 1942. No. 37433 He perished in the camp on 24 July 1942.

1 September 1924 | A Norwegian Jew Arne Kronik was born. In #Auschwitz from 1 December 1942. No. 79155 He perished in the camp in February 1943.

1 September 1923 | Dutch Jewish woman, Roza Anholt-Delden, was born in Amsterdam. In July 1942 she was deported from #Westerbork to #Auschwitz with her daughter Christina. They were murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.
