28 August 1939 | A Yugoslavian Jewish boy, Andrija Schossberger, was born in Novi Sad. In April 1944 he was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

28 August 1865 | A Jewish man, Karl Leopold Kirchner, was born in Skuodas (now Lithuania). In 1907 he emigrated to Norway. He was arrested in February 1943 in a Jewish elderly home. He was murdered in a gas chamber in #Auschwitz agter arrival selection on 3 March 1943.

26 August 1938 | A French Jewish girl, Paulette Kerner, was born in Paris. She arrived at #Auschwitz from 29 September 1942 in a transport of Jews deported from Drancy. She was murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

26 August 1941 | A German Sinti girl, Maria Adler, was born in Berlin. In #Zigeunerlager (Gypsy camp) in #Auschwitz II-Birkenau from 24 March 1943. No. Z-5628 She perished in the camp on 7 May 1943.

26 August 1901 | A German Jew, Hans Ackermann, was born. A businessman. He lived in Berlin. In 1943 he was deported to #Auschwitz. He did not survive.

26 August 1942 | The 23rd transport of Jews deported from Drancy in German-occupied France arrived at #Auschwitz. Among 1,000 people there were 518 children aged 1-14. After the selection 908 people were murdered in gas chambers. One of them was Michel Ejzenberg (age 6).

26 August 1914 | A Pole, Witold Zacharewicz, was born in Płock. An actor. He & his family were involved in the production of false documents for Jews hiding in Warsaw. In #Auschwitz from 19 November 1942. No 76174 He perished in the camp on 16 February 1943.

26 August 1911 | A Czech Jewish woman, Františka Roubičková, was born. She was deported to #Auschwitz from Theresienstadt ghetto on 6 September 1943. She did not survive.
