21 August 1935 | A Czech Jewish girl, Aviva Becková, was born. On 23 January 1943 she was deported from Theresienstadt ghetto to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

21 August 1942 | A Yugoslavian Jewish boy, Robert Flesch, was born in Sombor. In May 1944 he was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

21 August 1942 | The Germans executed by shooting in #Auschwitz a Polish prisoner Stanisław Dubois, a socialist, and one of the leaders of the camp resistance.

21 August 1943 | The camp authorities carried out a selection at the women's camp in Birkenau. The SS selected 498 Jewish women, who they considered as unable to work. Before being deported to a gas chamber, they were placed in barrack 25 called the "waiting room to gas." Among the selected, there were 438 Greek Jewish women. The list had a code name "G.U." (gesonderte Unterbringung - separate placement) which meant condemnation to death.

20 August 1909 | A Polish Jew, Berko Charitan, was born in Jagiełła. A farmer. In #Auschwitz from 15 December 1941. No. 24518 He perished in the camp on 11 February 1942.
