17 August 1940 | In the weekly report, the SS Construction Office announced the completion of the installation of the first crematorium furnace & plans to launch it soon. In total, the Topf and SΓΆhne company installed three furnaces in Auschwitz I that could incinerate up to 340 bodies per day. The metal carts were used to insert corpses into the furnaces.
