3 August 1896 | An Italian Jewish woman, Ada Ancona (nee Gesess), was born in Trieste.
In August 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.
2 August 1936 | A French Jewish girl, Berthe Lederman, was born in Paris.
In August 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz from Drancy and murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.
2 August 1943 | 1,000 Jews arrived at Auschwitz from Drancy in German-occupied France. After the selection 218 men & 55 women were registered as prisoners.
The remaining 727 people were murdered in gas chambers.
Françoise Sukno was among them. She was almost 3 months old.
2 August 1917 | A Polish woman, Stanisława Czubak, was born in Kłaj. A teacher.

2 August 1895 | Austrian Jew, Alexandre Flack, was born in Vienna. He emigrated to France.
He was deported to #Auschwitz from Drancy on 16 September 1942. He was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.
2 August 1943 | Jewish prisoners at the German extermination center #Treblinka launched a successful revolt. Over 200 escaped, ca. half of them survived the war.
2/3 August 1944 | The Germans liquidated the so-called Gypsy camp (Zigeunerlager - sector BIIe) of Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Some 4,300 children, women and men - the last Roma and Sinti prisoners of the sector - were murdered in gas chambers.
