1 August 1886 | Italian Jew, Italo Vitale, was born in Genoa. He was deported to #Auschwitz from Milan on 30 January 1944. He was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection on 6 February 1944.

1 August 1894 | A Czech, August Lukes, was born in Příbram. A teacher. In #Auschwitz from 15 January 1942. No. 25602 He perished in the camp on 25 April 1942.

1 August 1927 | A Czech Jewish woman, Magda Rosenberg, was born. In 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

1 August 1872 | Dutch Jew, Salomon Blits, was born in Amsterdam. He emigrated to Belgium. He was deported to #Auschwitz from Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen on 15 January 1943. He was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

1 August 1943 | From the liquidated ghetto in Będzin the Germans deported to Auschwitz some 10,000 Jews - men, women and children. After the selection, 997 men and 1140 women were registered in the camp. The remaining people were murdered in gas chambers.

1 August 1906 | A Hungarian Jewish woman, Ilona Lassner (nee Frankfurt), was born. In June 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

1 August 1904 | A Polish man, Bronisław Sadzak, was born in Łódź. A lawyer. In #Auschwitz from 30 July 1941. No. 19971 He perished in the camp on 2 March 1942.

1 August 1892 | A Polish Jew, Kalman Ogrodnik, was born in Płońsk. A merchant. In #Auschwitz from 18 June 1942. No. 48857 He perished in the camp on 13 August 1942.

1 August 1915 | A Polish Jewish woman, Fradja Azous, was born in Warsaw. She emigrated to France. In September 1942 she was deported from Pithiviers to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.
