25 May 1948 | Witold Pilecki was executed in Warsaw. A Polish soldier, a volunteer prisoner of the German #Auschwitz camp, a co-founder of the camp resistance. He escaped in April 1943 & wrote a report about the crimes in the camp. Our podcast:

25 May 1937 | A French Jewish boy, Roger Fajlewicz, was born in Paris. He arrived at #Auschwitz on 6 February 1944 in a transport of 1,214 Jews deported from Drancy. He was amon 999 of them murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

25 May 1881 | A German Sinti woman, Dorothea Thormann, was born in Bremervörde. In #Zigeunerlager (Gypsy camp) in #Auschwitz II-Birkenau from 24 March 1943. No. Z-5629 She perished in the camp on 21 May 1943.

25 May 1929 | A Hungarian Jewish girl, Edit Spitzer, was born. In July 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

25 May 1892 | Jewish man, Bernhard Davidsen, was born in Vitebsk. He emigrated to Norway in 1912. A coachman. He arrived at #Auschwitz on 1 December 1942 and was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

25 May 1931 | A Czech Jewish boy, Ivo Rubin, was born in Prague. He was deported to #Auschwitz from Theresienstadt Ghetto on 4 October 1944. He was murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

24 May 1940 | A Dutch Jewish boy, Philip Cohen, was born in Amsterdam. He arrived at #Auschwitz on 18 February 1943 in a transport of 1,108 Jews deported from Westerbork. He was among 847 of them murdered in gas chambers after the selection.

24 May 1911 | A Polish woman, Helena Nowak, was born in Radom. A tailor. In #Auschwitz from 22 January 1943. No. 30644 She perished in the camp on 7 May 1943.

24 May 1942 | A Jewish boy, Tamas Ovits, was born in Marosvásárhely (then in Hungary, today Târgu Mureș in Romania) to Tibor and Lili. In 1944 he was deported to #Auschwitz where he was murdered in a gas chamber.

24 May 1930 | A French Jewish girl, Tova Zarcon, was born in Paris. On 20 January 1944 she was deported from Drancy to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.
