21 May 1937 | Belgian Jewish girl, Suzanne Szalek, was born in Antwerp. She emigrated to France. She was deported to #Auschwitz from Drancy on 13 April 1944. She was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

21 May 1893 | A Pole, Jan Podkul, was born in Nowosiołka. A Catholic priest. In #Auschwitz from 30 July 1941. No. 19088 He perished in KL Dachau on 15 June 1942.

21 May 1927 | Czech Jewish boy, Otto Fink, was born in Vroutek. He was deported to #Auschwitz from Theresienstadt ghetto on 26 October 1942. He did not survive.

21 May 1944 | A transport of 453 Dutch Jewish men, women, and children arrived at Auschwitz from Westerbork. After arrival selection 250 men and 100 women were registered in the camp. The remaining 103 people were murdered in a gas chamber.

20 May 1910 | A Czech, Josef Rechtacek, was born in Prague. A worker. In #Auschwitz from 20 May 1942. No. 35848 He perished in the camp on 21 June 1942.

20 May 1923 | A Polish Jew, Israel Gutman, was born in Warsaw. He fought in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Survivor of Majdanek, Auschwitz & Mauthausen. He was a Chief Historian & Academic Advisor of Yad Vashem and a deputy chairman of the International Auschwitz Council. (d. 2013)
