My friend Kara, the one currently incarcerated at Carswell, has had her hormones cut yet again. They haven't done labs or anything on her in weeks. They've now reduced her to 3 mg a week for her HRT. We are still desperately searching for legal counsel who will advocate for her. Please help. image
Oh for Pete's sake, I *just* returned that bucket truck to the rental lot. πŸš§πŸš’ Guess I'm glad I didn't pack my yellow vest away just yet. πŸ¦ΊπŸ˜‰ image
It is quite telling that the folk in the Pacific Northwest simply do not have terms of endearment like this. Or possibly that we don't reach out to others. Or possibly that we don't have friends at all.
Made a one day stop in Central Illinois to speak at #BSidesPeoria Big thanks to them and to Bradley University for having me here! And that keynote speaker badge.... WOW! πŸ˜²πŸ”‘
Sigh. In the latest saga of "tech upgrades that break unexpected things" we seem to have many reports of the latest version of Android that was pushed to many devices, including my Pixels, now having issues with sending DTMF tones down the line during calls. "Press 2 to speak to the front desk" "Press 9 to search for your package" And, in my case, "This is a call from a Federal Prison. To accept this call, press 5" ^ all of these no longer seem to work, or work very inconsistently. I'm wondering if this latest version of Android is cutting off (or otherwise nerfing) just how long / how loud the DTMF tones get sent down the line. I suspect this is the case because if I go on speaker phone and use a site like to blast tones out of my laptop speakers, all of these systems (including TruLinks/CorrLinks) work just fine. And yes I have tested using a DTMF Tone Generator app on my phone itself. It doesn't work. Likely something about the Dialer app muting local phone sounds and not passing them along down the line. Arg. Anyone else out there facing this?
I like to surround myself with people who have extensive and wondrous vocabularies, yet who nevertheless choose to say "fuck" a lot in conversation.
Feels like many of my followers could use these images in some wonderful memes. Or in flirting. Or you can just be happy knowing that the Deaf community tends to be very queer-positive and that even "mainstream" apps teach LGBTQ+ terms, etc. But also, yeah, I know some of you -- even hearies -- are gonna be dropping these screenshots in non-ASL conversations, heh. 🀟
This legislator from Texas is saying some horrible things, yes. And it's rightfully making many people disgusted by his hatred. In the midst of our outrage and anger and possibly even fear, however, You can always spare a moment to look at that clown's Wikipedia page and realize that he is an abject loser of the highest degree. Losers can still be harmful, especially if they have the levers of power. But never lose sight of the fact that your bully will never make anything of his life.
The level of over-engineering on this little oil applicator gun that Eric at the @Connections Museum just showed me is incredible. The teeny detents! And apparently, yes, the Bell System Practices manual does specify how many clicks of oil various components are supposed to get!
It took me an extra week because it took me this long to get home from Vegas, but I finally posted a video about many of the things I saw and did a Hacker Summer Camp this year...
