The grizzly sow and her two cubs observed for the first time on Vancouver Island last summer have been seen together again in April and until a week ago. When I visited that area on Monday, I saw only one of the cubs. No sign of the sow and the other cub.
There could be two reasons: the cubs are now on their own because they are old enough to fend for themselves or they've been illegally killed by individuals / entities that don't want grizzlies to settle on the island. Looking for the answer...
