Life lesson: perseverance eventually pays off. I took about 300 photos of hummingbirds this afternoon and managed to get a few good ones. Never give up, my friends, never give up! This is a rufus hummingbird (Selasphorus rufus). #hummingbird #birds #photography #wildlife #nature #BirdsOfMastodon #VancouverIslandWildlife #VancouverIsland #BritishColumbia #Canada #WildlifePhotography #NaturePhotography #BirdPhotography image
I know that many of you have been wondering for a very long time how the bottom of a hummingbird looks like, so I am honoured to provide an answer with this photo: it is beige. 😁 #hummingbird #photography #BirdsOfMastodon #wildlife #nature #VancouverIslandWildlife #VancouverIsland #BritishColumbia #Canada #NaturePhotography #WildlifePhotography #BirdPhotography image
I thought today would be a good day to photograph hummingbirds and their iridescent feathers because it is a sunny day. Can you spot the hummingbird in this photo? 🤔 image

#BloomScrolling - Western trilliums (Trillium ovatum) are blooming on Vancouver Island. I photographed that one a few days ago in a second-growth forest. We had light rain at the time. #flowers #photography #nature #NaturePhotography #VancouverIslandWildlife #VancouverIsland #BritishColumbia #Canada image
I've finally managed to photograph my first orchid. As I was walking in the woods, daydreaming as usual, little bright pink dots caught my attention. There were five fairy slipper (Calypso bulbosa) growing on a bed of moss ready to be photographed. This is the first time that I see orchids in a forest. (Vertical photo: open to see in full). #flowers #orchid #photography #nature #NaturePhotography #VancouverIslandWildlife #VancouverIsland #BritishColumbia #Canada image
Went to check on 3 bald eagle nests today and 2 of them are occupied. Incubation period is 35 days. Should hatch at the end of the month. Here's a photo of one of the nests taken with a telephoto lens this morning on Vancouver Island. Photo extremely cropped not to give any details about the location of the nest and protect this family of eagles from the crowds. #BaldEagle #photography #wildlife #VancouverIslandWildlife #VancouverIsland #BritishColumbia #Canada #birds #BirdsOfMastodon image
