"So which of those saunas should I go into?" And she looked at me dumbstruck. And I said, "You realize I'm transgender?" And she still said nothing. Directly after explaining how he couldn’t possibly compete against men in an “open” category, Joanna Harper proudly recounts how he trapped a hotel worker in an uncomfortable situation. Any answer short of “Do whatever you want all the time” could have cost her job or even led to criminal charges, depending on the European country.
“They threatened to cancel our homecoming and other school events that are important to us.” That’s the kind of coercion teenage girls face for not wanting to share a bathroom with a boy. As @npub1sv0m...8az9 wrote: A growing number of children aren’t complying and the question is whether the adults trying to break them will succeed, or whether the girls will break the phalanx of powerful adults trying to break them.
“As a brother, it is very hard for me to see my sister struggling with this, especially when I can't fix it for her. That's why I'm speaking up. I want her and all the other girls here to feel safe in a place that should be private.” 💛🤍💜
Ezra Klein calls the belief that women have a right to single-sex sports & spaces “fundamentally and morally wrong.” He admits most Americans disagree, yet lacks the theory of mind to imagine that millions might support single-sex spaces for reasons other than hatred or ignorance. He asks Ta-Nehisi Coates if he should try and win us over or compromise with us. This is the wrong question @Ezra Klein. You need to first talk directly to us and try to understand our position. If Klein really wants to lead Democrats out of the wilderness, he needs to find the courage to invite women in the Democratic Party who disagree with him onto his podcast and actually hear our side. @Kara Dansky is an obvious choice and would be a stellar guest. On a side note: Coates’s answer to all this is to talk about the Reconstruction?!?
Carl’s post highlights exactly why people searching for a middle ground on “trans”stumble. Here are some of the issues he needs to resolve first: 1. There does not exist a coherent definition for a legal category of “trans” people beyond self-id since even a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria is through self-attestation. 2. We can treat people with respect and dignity while still recognizing that people with a trans-id are struggling with serious mental health issues that in many cases are holding them back from living happy, productive lives. Living in the Bay Area, I interact with lots of trans-identified folks, and in my personal experience, adopting a trans identity is often the start of a downward spiral for many of my acquaintances. 3. And so calling a group that has no membership criteria beyond self-id mostly “decent” is dishonest. There’s no way to know if this is true, especially when predators now have every incentive to identify into the category to gain entry into women’s intimate spaces. It also gives men a way to reduce their punishments in the legal system. We do have data that points to some concerning mental health comorbidities, especially when it comes to men with a trans-id. For instance we have prison data that shows incarcerated men who have a trans-id are much more likely to be in prison for crimes of a sexual nature. 4. The constant need to repeat the refrain “It’s not a big problem” is cudgel used to belittle women & children’s experiences. It’s used to undermine the trauma of an incarcerated woman sharing a cell with a fully intact male rapist, to dismiss the female athlete’s distress at being forced to undress in front of a man, and every woman pressured to stay silent through threats of loss of employment or social ostracization. @npub12z3k...vufj View quoted note →

In honor of Erika Kirk’s unearthed tomboy childhood, here’s me at 18. People ask why I care so much. You shouldn’t need a reason beyond the horror of child mutilation. But I look at myself & wonder: would I have resisted gender ideology or been robbed of breastfeeding my kids? image
Don’t tell me the words Kimmel said deserve government crackdown because they were false. That’s what the left told me when I said men can’t be women. We don’t want government officials determining “truth” & then wielding their power to suppress it. View quoted note →
Girls vs. the State of California Temecula Valley Unified School District requires girls to fill out a "mental health accommodation" form if they don't want to undress in front of boys in their locker room. @npub16ead...3ug4 @npub1kapg...03ez @npub1x7zg...f4ts The girls have had enough!
