Top overlanding tip… never park on a river bed, even if it is completely dry. We stopped here last night and the river bed looked inviting because it was nice and flat and bone dry. But fortunately common sense prevailed as about 1hr after we’d stopped, water started flowing down the river getting up to knee deep in places - the result of meltwater from the snowy mountains up ahead… which is why if you have a river crossing to do, they are always best done in the morning before the meltwater puts the river in to flood. #overlandlife #photography #kyrgyzstan image
Yes, these mountains are that colour to the naked eye. Yes, it’s mind-blowing. Yes, I could stare at them all day. Yes, you should visit Kyrgyzstan and see them for yourself. #pamir #photography #aerial #overlanding image
You’ll need to click in to this to appreciate it … an aerial 180 degree panorama showing the ridge that divides traveller’s pass from the glacier coming down from Lenin Peak. Taken this morning once the sun was high enough to bring some contrast and shadow and highlight the incredible colours of the ridge against the white of the snow. #photography #drone #overlanding #kyrgyzstan image
Not every day is aweso… nope, I’d be lying if I said that. But today was especially awesome. Started at 3800m in front of Lenin Peak. Finished at 3260m about 20km from the Tajikistan border. That means tomorrow is a border crossing and the real start of the Pamir Highway. And a new country for all of us… 106 for me, 26 for Isla, Otis and Bebe… and Jess doesn’t keep count! #photography #overlandfamily #kyrgyzstan image
Traveller’s Pass, near Lenin Peak, Kyrgyzstan. I love the sea (I was a Marine Biologist originally) but for photography nothing beats the mountains. #photography #kyrgyzstan #aerial #adventure image
