It turns out Borodin and Ramius were talking about Bitcoin. image
5AM BERRY PICKING LETS GOOOOO!!! Yesterday the dog got me up at 1:30 to use the bathroom, and because my brain is such a nice guy that was it for sleep for me. So at 5 I got the dog up (he wasn’t very happy about it, too bad for him!) and we went up the hill for sunrise to beat the heat. The trees are so thick with berries that the branches are leaning over. You can grab clusters of them that fill your hand. We didn’t pick a huge amount as we needed to be back in time to make pre-work coffee for Tassie. Pippin signalled it was time to go with his widened bulldog stance and a stare, and back down the hill we went. Didn’t stop me from grabbing drive-by handfuls for breakfast as we walked past more bushes… Inspiration hit after a nap and the Sawmill Creek Cottages Cookbook came out for a muffin recipe. I could have gone heavier on the butter (isn’t that always?) and the papers weren’t cooperative (I’m going to try some expensive ones next time for comparison) but the fresh saskatoons still pulled their weight. 10/10 will try to get up the hill at least once more this season.
Saskatoon season!

GUYS GUYS GUYS! My “local” (3h / 250km away) Costco has beef tallow! Definitely not cheap, and I still want to try making it myself (I haven’t been able to source fat), but available means normie exposure means more available.
Second Bitcoin purchase at my local farmers market! Woohoo! Funny story actually, someone else saw my “Bitcoin Preferred” sign and had some questions, and this couple overheard as they were walking past. It turned out he didn’t have any Bitcoin in his hot wallet, “…but I have Ethereum in my Coinbase account, I should be able to swap it immediately and pay with Lightning!” Turned out he couldn’t swap it “immediately”, and Coinbase was nothing but trouble. I gave them their coffees and told them they could stop by on their way out once they had it sorted. They did, and were able to pay via Lighting invoice QR code. I’m hoping their less-than-optimal experience with Eth and Coinbase will lead them to the light of Bitcoin and self custody. Massive shoutout to @Coinos for their speedy and frictionless platform. I’ve had zero technical issues any time I’ve used it. It’s my go-to hot wallet and meatspace retail payment receiver. 10/10, do recommend to everyone. image
First bitcoin transaction selling cold-brew coffee at the local farmers market! Tiny town in northern Canada. New things typically take a long time to catch on here, so this is exceptional! image
