Gutted to hear about Zakir Hussain’s passing. He was the last of the legends of Indian classical music, and I count myself lucky to have watched him perform in-person a few times. His work and patronizing of jazz (including SFJazz) got me into jazz. My ticket for masters of percussion for March ‘25 will be a somber reminder now. I hope wherever he is, he gets a jig o’ beer & chai:
