what a journey this has been i cannot believe there was no cracking at all-i was convinced something would go horribly wrong risks were high. such a large porcelain platter would very very likely have s-cracks, warping or complete destruction but somehow this came out unscathed additionally a variety of things could have gone wrong with the glaze with impurities, cobalt running, uneven application or any other amount of nightmares. copying this imari platter has influenced my own work over the course of the past year (though a majority of the work for this was done in the last week 😅). especially copying the floral designs has given me tools and motifs to explore and improve upon, and the sheer scale of underglaze painting on this piece has forced me to streamline my blue-on-white-drawing process. i won’t show a picture of the back since it’s blank and i spent two hours sanding to successfully accidently grind my own name off. it needs a lot more work. i could also put lustre on this piece but that would be more risk and think i’m about done with this particular roller coaster. that being said it might look nice- and why not risk it for the biscuit? i remember when i started this project people told me it was completely impossible, which nearly guaranteed me the determination to finish it. i’m proud of myself and this piece. “the poignancy of things” (2025) tyson

take care of your body and it will take care of you. note to self: do not underestimate this concept.
so i was wanting to post some cool stuff i was looking at, but i was worried some people might think it was mine and didn’t want to clarify/deal with that. so the solution is @lemonaebae is my alt for posting badass art that i did not make. it also will be nice as a sort of archive to store my references #art #artstr View quoted note →
