 As Larry Elliott, who is the Guardian’s economics editor says today in his final post after 28 years in the job, the world could have chosen the Green New Deal, of which we were co-authors in 2008, but it preferred zombie capitalism. We have paid a high price for that.

 The GuardIan pretends that Labour is left wing and then equates people’s reasonable dislike for them with distaste for left-wing politics. But that’s absurd. Labour is to the right of Cameron’s Tories. They’re not in the slightest bit left-wing.
Why are people so good at their hobbies? The question always asked about the UK economy is why are we so unproductive? Might it be that UK business does not seek to use the skills, talents, curiosity and drive of its employees in useful ways, which is why so many of those employees direct those talents into their hobbies instead?

 Concerns are already being raised about the links between the use of GLP-1 type drugs to control obesity and deaths. Concerns do not prove that the two are linked, but when doctors raise them we should take note, most especially when cutting consumption of mass-produced ultra-processed foods is a much better way to tackle the health crises we face.
Am I your problem, Kemi Badenoch? Kemi Badenoch has made clear that she thinks that university-educated people who might challenge what she wants to do to this country are high on her list of the enemies of society. I, on the other hand, work at a university, seeking to produce the people who might hold her to account. Does that make me Kemi Badenoch’s problem?
What does Trump mean for the economy? Trump’s election brings his incoherent and destructive economic policies, that have significant potential impacts for the UK, to the fore. We need to worry, because we’re going to pay for the price for the USA’s mistake.
What’s the challenge that Trump creates? Trump has regained the US Presidency, but the policies he has proposed will be disastrous for the American people, delivering chaos, inflation and high interest rates alongside fear for many. The people of the USA might have voted him out to be rid of neoliberalism but he is not the answer to any known question. So, what is?
Is Labour spiteful? Sir James Dyson has accused Labour of being spiteful because it has taken away the inheritance tax reliefs worth a small fortune that he had hoped to enjoy by buying large acreages of farmland in the East of England. He’s completely wrong about that. But Labour is spiteful, nonetheless. He just identified the wrong target for their spite.

 It looks as if Trump has won in the USA. Its people appear to have rejected neoliberalism, thinking that what it has to offer is worse than the risk Trump creates. If so , this is the end of the neoliberal order. What we now need is a non-fascist alternative to it. Our futures depend on it.

 One of Kemi Badenoch’s stated goals during her campaign to be Tory leader was to take on those with mental ill health and neuro-divergence so that she might deny them the services that they need to flourish. They should, she made clear, suffer in silence and alone. Her words revolt me.
