New blogpost: "Dealing with apt's warning 'Policy will reject signature within a year, see --audit for details'" This is one which has been bugging me for a while. I don't have a *fix* - it is something which each repository provider needs to sort - but at least I have a workaround. #Linux #FOSS #Debian #apt
I am currently using Cryptomator, so that files stored in a certain directory are encrypted, and the directory is mounted via FUSE and decrypted for me to use it, when I give the correct key. When I shut down, only the encrypted directory is stored. I seem to recall a "native" way of doing this, but I can't think of the name. eCryptFS?
🥳 decoded.legal is 10 years old! 🥳 Today is quite a special day for me, as it marks ten years since Sandra and I started our own business, a tiny (sorry, "boutique") law firm. I've rather enjoyed working for myself and running our own business, and I'm grateful to have worked with so many amazing people.
My toot about HSBC UK blocking its app from running on my phone, because I have either or both F-Droid and Bitwarden installed, has got rather more attention than I'd intended, including journalist enquiries. A good reminder to me to be ever more mindful about what I toot. (I deleted it not too long after posting, but not rapidly enough!)
Do you have a recommendation based on your own direct personal experience of an alternative to a Raspberry Pi 4/5, which is: * similar size / form factor * similar price * PoE-powered (an add-on board, without significantly changing the size, is fine) * arm64 or amd64 * 4GB+ RAM * full / first class Linux support * available in the UK ?
Urgh, "nudifying" services - the non-consensual generation of intimate pseudo-images of (mainly) women - are seemingly mainstream. What happened to consent?!
Happy New Year of the Linux Desktop.
Only a month until #FOSDEM. My Flo mask has arrived. I have Eurostar tickets and a hotel room. I have people to meet, and I am happy to meet more!. I feel that I should have some stickers to hand out. But I do not. I have not written my presentation.
HSBC has chosen to block its mobile app on my phone because *checks notes* I've got a password manager, Bitwarden, installed via F-Droid. Its solution is for me to remove Bitwarden. My solution is to stop using HSBC's app. image
I saw a headline on a UK tabloid paper yesterday, alleging that the majority of people in the UK support a social media ban for under 16s. There is a proposal for this before Parliament at the moment, and I think that it has some fundamental flaws. ## A proposed legislative amendment to attempt to ban under 16s in the UK from common messaging services, sharing family photos, using Wikipedia, and doing much else online, by imposing age assurance on everyone #OnlineSafetyAct #children #SocialMedia
